

Michael Wayne Messick passed away on July 21, 2006 at the age of 56. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, family member, and friend to many. He never failed to help someone, do a favor, or remember to return something to someone, even if it made him late.
Mike was a lifelong resident of Baytown, TX. He lettered in sports all four years at Robert E. Lee High School and graduated in 1968. He attended Lee College before beginning his career in the chemical industry. He was a dedicated employee of Bayer Chemical for 32 years and a longtime unit supervisor. He had been a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church since his youth. Mike enjoyed nature, cooking outdoors, music, good company, and was an avid outdoorsman all of his life.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Richard A. Messick and his brother, Steve Messick of Livingston. He is survived by his wife KaSandra; his daughter, Amanda Messick of Baytown; his son, Ethan Messick of Bryan; his mother, Betty Jo Messick of Baytown; his sister, Vicki Jones and her husband Jack Jones of Livingston; his nephew, Kevin Walker and wife Natalie of Baton Rouge; niece, Jennifer Leigh and her husband Paul of Spring; his in-laws, Lorraine & Lee R. Patterson of Baytown; a special family friend, Leigh Troxell, who he thought of as a daughter; and a large extended family of so many close uncles, aunts, and treasured friends.
There will be a visitation at Navarre Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mark Stafford officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Peebles Cemetery in Livingston.
Mike's pallbearers will be Raymond Henderson, Lonnie DeCamp, Harrell Powers, Doyle Broom, Larry Holloway, Jerry Johnson, Wayne Follis, and Kevin Walker. Mike's honorary pallbearers, great friends to him and his family, are M.D. Pumphrey, Ronald Tolleson, Ron Niedziejko, Rene Cabarik, Gary Solak, Johnny Henderson, Greg Henderson, Brian Maxwell, Gary Sparks, Rusty Sparks, Jimmy Sparks, Gabe Wootton, Austin Pell, Jeremy King, TDA 1 & 2, TDI 1 & 2, support staff at Bayer, and the Kibble Creek Hunting Club.
