Mignon spent her childhood years in Baytown, Texas where she attended Robert E. Lee High School and was a member of the Lee Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corp. She is the only Brigadier to date who was drum major both her junior and senior years. Mignon graduated high school in 1953 and the following year attended The University of Texas. Mignon transferred to Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana where she graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. During her college life, Mignon was an active member of the Chi Omega Sorority.
Mignon taught English in Baytown for one year at Cedar Bayou Junior High. It was this same year she met her beloved husband, James Bond (Jim). She and Jim married in 1958 and began their picturesque life together in Baytown.
Mignon and Jim had three children, James (Jamie), Melissa (Missy) and Michelle. She was an active member of the Baytown Service League and was an elder in First Presbyterian Church of Baytown. Mignon and Jim lived in Baytown raising their children until Jim's death in 1996.
When Mignon's first grandchild, Garrett, was born in 1991, her name officially changed from Mignon to "Yummy". In 1998, she moved to The Woodlands, Texas to be closer to her grandchildren. Here, she would alternate weekend sleepovers with each of the kids and host every family holiday gathering. During this time, Mignon also loved volunteering at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, pushing the wheelchairs of new mothers and their babies as they headed home.
In 2010, she moved to Lakeway, Texas to be near her youngest daughter, Michelle, and her family. Her new house was a quick two minutes away from her three youngest grandchildren, as being close to family was always the most important to her. She remained in Lakeway until her death.
Mignon will always be remembered by her outpouring love for her children and grandchildren - always the first to let friends know of their accomplishments.
