Mrs. Brawn was my 4th grade teacher in 1954. I distinctly remember the fear I felt when I learned I would be in her class, because I'd heard she was a tough teacher! By the time I finished 4th grade, I loved her dearly!

She enriched the lives of so many people, and her physical presence will be missed, but her most wonderful qualities have already been instilled forever in our hearts. I'm sure Jesus welcomed her with open arms ... ""Well done, my good and faithful servant.""

Mrs. Braun was my 4th grade teacher at Ashbel Smith Elementary.  She was one of the best teachers I ever had. I will always remember that we never started anything in her class until we prayed. She was a great lady and will be missed.

How time flies. I seens like only yesterday that I was sitting at my desk at Ashbel Smith Elementry School in Mrs. Brawn's classroom. I look around and all our classmates have grown children of their own! Life moves on... I sure realized it this year when Allen and I celebrated our 50th anniversary in June. Mrs. Brawn was a wonderful teacher. I remember her reading story books to us after lunch break and we could hardly wait until the next day. It was like a serial series. She was a kind and patient teacher. Thanks to Mrs. Brawn for helping to enrich my life! 
Love and Sympathy to the Family.

Mrs. Brawn meant the world to my children and I. I just want to cry talking about her. My oldest son, Matt, who is now 24, was diagnosed with dyslexia when he was in second grade. A friend told me about Mrs. Brawn, and she was a Godsend. She was patient, kind, and caring and she certainly got both of us through a tough time. We will never forget her or her kindness.
Matthew even brought over his violin to play for her when he was in 6th grade, even as a young man,now grown and a college graduate, he will always remember her, she made such an impression on him, that will last a lifetime.
All our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in her celebration of life.

My memories of Mrs. Brawn are during the years 1951  - 1954 when I was a friend of Bill's in R.E. Lee.  Both Mr. & Mrs. Brawn were such wonderful Christian  parents and sweet friends to me.  I am sorry for your loss, Billy, and wanted to express my sympathy to all members of your family.  May God strengthen all of you and comfort you.  Sincerest sympathy.  Eleanor Sirmons White

Not only was Mrs. Brawn my fourth grade teacher, she and my mother were dear friends as they taught across the hall from each other.  Also, Mrs. Brawn was my aunt's ( Myrtis Ray McPhail) college roommate.  I remember so many things I learned from the 4th grade, expecially the love of travel and Europe.  Your mother was an excellent teacher.
   My prayers and love are with you in this time of sorrow.

Mrs. Brawn was my fourth grade teacher at Ashbel Smith Elementary. I am now 46 years old, and I still remember her vividly---in fact, I will never forget her. One of my favorite memories is listening to her read ""Old Yeller"" to us. She read a few pages from the book every day until it was finished. I was captivated. I am a teacher now myself, and I feel so fortunate to have had Mrs. Brawn as my teacher. She made a wonderful impression on a 9 year-old little girl who was silly and talked too much. Though she did not put up with nonsense, she still let me know that she liked me and cared about me. I did not find out about her death until it was too late to attend the service. I surely would have been there.

I credit Mary Jo and Mildred with inviting my family to go to church which resulted in our salvation through faith in Jesus.

We were blessed to live across the street from the Brawns when I was three years old until I was nearly nine.  I always remember Mildred as being  sweet and pleasant.  She was a gracious lady, and I will always be thankful for her influence on us.

May the Lord comfort you at this time.  My dad John died April 20, 2003, and Edra died two months later.  It is wonderful to know they are in heaven - where your parents are, also.
