Ozell Williams Hollaway

Ozell Williams Hollaway of Baytown passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at the age of 101 in a health care facility in Deer Park, Texas. She was born on July 20, 1908, to Emmett Milby and Clara Lula Williams in Barbers Hill and was a direct descendent of the Barbers family, who settled there.

Ozell was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was her family and her faith. She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Baytown.

Ozell was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John C. Hollaway, her parents Emmett and Clara, brothers, Darrell and Leslie Williams, sister Bethel Kirk, nephew Bobby Hollaway, and son-in-law Bill Bevis. She was also preceded by special friends, Louise Davis and Mazelle Box.

She is survived by her son John M. Hollaway and his wife Janelle, daughters Sudie Bevis and Sharon Herrington and her husband Donnie, all of Baytown. She is also survived by special niece Patsy Battle and her husband Ernie of Mont Belvieu and their sons, Hayden and Patrick of New Orleans. Surviving grandchildren are Pam Hollaway of Clear Lake, Melanie O’Hare of Baytown, Jan Lou Wolcik and her husband Brad of Tarkington Prairie, Shari Don Austin and her husband BJ of Baytown, and John Herrington of Colorado. Great-grandchildren, Derek O’Hare, Joseph, Jaci, and Jenna Wolcik, and Gracie Lee Austin.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 13th from 5-7 pm. at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be on Wednesday, October 14th at 10 am at Navarre Funeral home with Rev. Mark Wells and nephew, Rev. Rodney Williams officiating. Graveside services to follow at Boothe Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie at 12:30 pm.

Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Ernie Battle, Wayne Clement, Pete Enderli, John A. Hollaway, Larry Hollaway, and Brad Sherman.

The family would like to give special thanks to Carole and Haley Williams, our chosen family, for helping us take care for Granny.
