Phillip Hubert Jenkins, 82, of Baytown, passed away in his home of 55 years, surrounded by loved ones, on August 23, 2019. He was born in Haskell County, Texas on December 29, 1936 to Guy and Ruth Pauline Jenkins.
He married the love of his life, Jeanette Jenkins in 1958 and they were married for 48 years. As a young man he enjoyed boating, square dancing, golfing, traveling, and game nights with family and friends. When his age exceeded his golf score, his past times changed to include bowling multiple days a week, cheering on his favorite baseball team, the Houston Astros, and loving, also known as spoiling, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He never met a stranger and would share laughter with anyone. He lived his life as the hands and feet of Jesus by always helping those in need. He loved Jesus and opened his home to many friends for weekly Bible study.
He served proudly in the United States Air Force. He chose a career as an electrician. He was well known as a tall-tale story teller, bringing laughter to the lunch hall, and always eager to participate in a team cook-off. He retired from Bayer.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jeanette Jenkins; brother Bill Brady; sister Lucille Davis; son-in-law/best friend Thomas Hildenbrand, Jr. He is survived by his children Phyllis Hildenbrand and Rusty Jenkins; grandchildren Maegan Stanaland (Leslie), Jeremy Audd (Stephanie), Krystle Garza (Randy), Jessica Greene (Derek), 9 precious great-grandchildren, sister Ruth Hutchins, many family and friends.
