Rachel was born with Cri-Du-Chat Syndrome and had a challenging life. She was very stubborn and resilient as she fought against illness most of her life until the very end. She was not expected to live for long after she was born but was able to share 22 amazing years with us.
Rachel's love and happiness was overwhelming and infectious by everyone who came to know her. She could not speak but her beautiful blue eyes said volumes and when she was happy she made everyone happy, when she loved you could tell that it was pure and simple with no pretentiousness. When she was sad or in pain it made you hurt and feel her sadness. Rachel will no longer be in pain but the hole in our hearts and lives will never be filled.
Rachel's life was filled with Health Care workers and family that truly loved and cared for her every day. The Nurses and Aides that came into our home and into our hearts were truly a part of our family. She will be missed by the many lives she has touched.
Rachel is survived by her mother and father, Christi and Bryan Hillier; sister, Samantha Hillier; brothers, Jacob and Jeremy Hillier; grandparents, Gwen and Don Hillier and Mabel Simmons, and uncles and aunts. She is preceded in death by her grandfather Kenneth Simmons.
The family will be holding a visitation on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Memory Gardens.
