

Ray Alton Blakely, 80, of Baytown was born March 9, 1937, in Springville, AL and passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, December 16, 2017, surrounded by his four loving daughters and many of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After graduating from Holly Pond High School in 1955, he joined the U. S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany for four years, where he met his wife of 43 years, Elsa. The family moved to Pasadena in 1966, where Ray worked for Phillco, NASA. In 1968, he started his 35-year career with Brown & Root, Inc. and moved his family to Great Yarmouth, England in 1974. In 1978, they returned from England and settled in Baytown where he lived surrounded by his family until his death.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elsa Hoock Blakely; parents, John Alton Blakely and Mabel Francis Rogers; sister, Margaret Frances Frederick; and nephews, Sammy Ray and Jeff Brannon. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Rusty Trousdale of Baytown, Victoria Harris of Kingwood, Monica Blakely of Baytown, and Rayela Gordon of Baytown; siblings and their spouses, Dorothy and Jesse B. Allen, Doris and Edward Jones, Lois and Johnny Brannon, John and Christie Blakely, and Frank and Rita Blakely; grandchildren, Nathan and Kasia French, James and Thao Trousdale, Carisa Trousdale, Kayla and Jared Langham, Amy and Kimberly Harris, Charles and Angelina Blakely, Laura Carmack, Samantha and Patrick Walker, Jenna Bennett, Madilyn and Gwenyth Blakely, and Montgomery and Levi Gordon; great grandchildren, Olivia Trousdale, Eliza Hargrave, Raegan and Harlie Langham, Koen and Liv Blakely, Caeley and Emery Carmack, Mary Kate Walker, Caroline McGrath, Elijah Blakely and Emmalyn Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Saturday, December 23, 2017, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rob Purdy officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow at his home in Baytown. All are welcome.
