Richard D. Hartis, Jr.

He was proceeded in death by two brothers, Gayland W Hartis and Ronald D Hartis, also his in-laws Ernest and LaVerta Bradley, and a brother-in-law Ernest Bradley Jr and Glenn McBride.

Richard was a member of Pipefitters Local 211. He became a site manager for Union Carbide for 15 years. He received numerous awards for safety including the President's Award for outstanding safety performance superb direction of work accomplishing 2, 500, 000 consecutive exposure hours of accident free work. He serviced in the US Air Force from December 13, 1963 to December 12, 1967, with the rank of Staff Sargent. He was assigned to the SAC Project 836 Air Division MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. Richard was a family man and loved fishing and hunting. Most of all his children and grandchildren were his life. He always said ""tell the truth because if you tell a lie you will always have to remember the lie"".

Richard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Bradley Hartis. His love and best friend. Richard is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Charity and Spence Naismith; grandchildren, Karley Thompson and Ryder Naismith; son Richard D Hartis III; brother Johnny Ray Hartis; grandchildren, Katylynn Hartis, Alexander Hartis, Laurail Hartis, Parker Hartis; mothers of his grandchildren, Lori Hartis and Kate Hartis; his sisters-in-law, Janie Hartis and Donnene McBride and brother-in-law Thomas Bradley as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 20th, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home located at 2444 Rollingbrook Drive in Baytown, Texas. With a burial service will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery All are welcome to attend and celebrate Richard's life.

Pallbearers will be Spence Naismith, Michael DeHoven, Richard Hartis III, Thomas Bradley, Johnny Ray Hartis, and Tommy Hartis. All grandchildren will be serving as honorary pallbearers
