After serving his country in the US Army, he met and married the love of his life, Dianne in 1967. They had 2 children, David and Valerie. Early in their marriage they owned Da-Val antiques and spent years refinishing pieces for many people in the Baytown area.
He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed family life, and always looked forward to road trips, especially to the lake. He had a quirky sense of humor, a peaceful presence, and would surprise you with the most random bits of trivia. If you knew our dad, you knew he made the best peanut butter fudge.
A mechanic and plant worker by trade, our dad worked with his hands and loved to “piddle” as his family said. He was a collector of many things; a knife maker, and up until a few months ago he was still fine tuning clocks and playing with antiques. He loved his snuggles with his special dog Minnie Mae.
Richard was a member of Old River Baptist Church. He loved God and his family.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Dianne; his brother Jim Jensen; and brother-in-law Eddie Going. Richard is survived by his son David Jensen and wife Jessica of Old River, and daughter Valerie Jensen of Dayton. Grandchildren, Sabrina Martin and husband Justin, Lauren Willey and husband EJ, Alexis Galloway, and Cody Galloway. He is also survived by a sister Laura Hilborn and husband Carroll; and sister-in-law Sondra Going. He leaves cherished memories with his nieces and nephews, four great- grandchildren, friends, and cousins.
We love you all, and we thank you for loving our dad. Although we will not spend the rest of our lives with him, we’re blessed beyond measure he got to spend the rest of his life with us.
At his request there will be a graveside memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.
