Robert Conrad Steele, 79, of Lubbock, TX passed away on March 8, 2016. He was born on January 28, 1937 in Ranger, TX to Raymond and Theo (Stidham) Steele. He grew up in Vernon, TX where he graduated from Vernon High School in 1956 before attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. Robert was married to Sharon Wolfe in Vernon and they had 3 children. While in Lubbock, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. Robert continued to reside in Lubbock until his move to Baytown in October of 2015. He was a Bridge Master, enjoyed playing chess, and going hunting. He was also a member of the First Christian Church in Lubbock, TX.
He was preceded in death by parents, Raymond Arthur and Theo Pearl.
He is survived by his brother, Ralph Steele of Denver, CO; son, Robert Steele of Baytown, TX; daughters, Cheryl Todd of Lake Charles, LA, and Christy Messer of Brandenton, FL; grandchildren, Alex, Sara, Lauren, and Amy; and great-grandchildren, Eli and Ava.
Interment will take place at East View Cemetery in Vernon, TX on Monday, April 11, 2016.
