

Robert L. Tolleson (Pop), 97, passed away in the early morning of September 26, 2018. He was born at home on October 19, 1920 in Lodi, Texas to the union of Jessie Clifton Tolleson and Irby Gray Blackbourne. Robert was the oldest of nine children. He attended Jefferson High School and joined the United States Army during WWII. During the war, Robert fought in the Pacific for four years. After he was discharged he came home to marry the love of his life, Billie Crawford. He worked for the Railroad until he got a phone call from his Aunt in Baytown, Texas telling him Humble Oil was hiring. He and his brother George traveled to Baytown and interviewed the same day and was hired. Robert retired in 1980 from Exxon after 34 years and enjoyed his many years of retirement. He loved fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. He has been a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church since moving to Baytown in the 1940’s. Robert was a kind and giving man who loved everyone as Jesus wanted us to love.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Billie; son, Ronald Tolleson; daughter in law, Barbara Tolleson; and siblings, George Tolleson, Clarice Sharber, Joe Tolleson, Alsey Tolleson, Harold Tolleson, Clarence Tolleson, and Roy Clifton Tolleson.
He is survived by his son, Robin Tolleson and daughter in law Rita; granddaughters, Shanna Leavins, Kelly Moore, and Jenny Garcia; great grandchildren, Ross Leavins, Linzi Leavins, Emily Moore, Blake Moore, Drew Moore, and Sloane Garcia; and his sister, Maxine Rhoades.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Swan Manor, and Faith Community Hospice for the loving, gentle care provided to Pop.
A visitation with the family will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10:00 am at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church 3116 Alexander Dr. Baytown, TX 77520, with funeral service to begin at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Old Foundry Cemetery in Lodi, Texas.
