Sandra L. Gates

Sandra L. Gates, 63, of Baytown was born June 27, 1945 in Houston and passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 in a local hospital. She was a member of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed making arts and crafts and traveling throughout the Caribbean.

She was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who was always there when you needed her. She had a personality that immediately captured your soul forever upon meeting her. She always put others first and she will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha and Slim Alford and a cousin who was like a brother, Jimmy Higginbotham. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Bernard ""Buddy"" Gates; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Crystal Gates; daughter and her fiancé, Kathy Price and Eddy Perez; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Yslita Brewer and Cameron and Sharon Gates; grandchildren, Sierra Price, Michael Gates and Emma Gates; special friends, Ronnie and Dee Arcenaux; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cat, Ziggy.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre funeral Home Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life for Sandra will be Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Dr. E. Richard Steel officiating, Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Brewer, Travis Brewer, David Scalise, Dennis Brewer, Bruce Gates and Cameron Gates Jr. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Ronnie Arcenaux.
