

The Houston Astros have another angel in the outfield, Shirley Mongiello has passed away. Shirley Ann Mongiello, 84, of Highlands was born November 4, 1931, in Mercer, PA and passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, in Baytown. Shirley was a passionate Houston Astros and Houston Texans fan, an avid bowler, loved reading, and loved attending all of her grandchildren's sporting events.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, Homer and Lottie Smith; husband Jerado Mongiello; son David Mongiello; brothers, Homer and Charles and sisters; Betty and Margorie. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Mongiello and wife Nai, of LaPorte, Brian Mongiello and wife, Tina of LaPorte, Mark Mongiello and Brenda Mobley of Highlands; daughter, Mary Ann Farmer and husband, James of Barbers Hill; 16 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Max Bowl, 720 Ward Road, Baytown TX 77520.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sterling Municipal Library, 1 Mary Wilbanks Ave, Baytown TX 77520, or The Stratford Branch Library, 509 Stratford St., Highlands TX 77562.
