

A memorial service for Stephen J. Scott, 96, will be held at St. Mark's United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation with family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Steve grew up in San Marcos, Texas. He has been a resident of Baytown for the past 65 years. Steve was a devoted member of St. Mark's Methodist Church. He worked with Habitat for Humanity and senior citizens groups.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Henry, Fred and Jim, and one sister, Edith Halvorson and a grandson, Scott Moody. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Alleane Berry Scott, two daughters and spouses, Janie Moody and Ned, Nancy Post and John, and one son Stephen and wife, Lee. Seven grandchildren also survive, Aaron and Ross Moody, Jennifer Post Waxman and Ben, Joy Post Brock and Chad, Dawn, Dual and Lindsey Scott. Eight great grandchildren survive, Daniel, David, Elizabeth and Erica Moody, Christopher, Caleb and Chloe Brock, and Katie Scott. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Having served four years in the Navy prior to World War II, Steve signed for the Naval Reserve. Consequently, he was called for active duty in the Navy in May 1941. He served in the Pacific until he was discharged in 1946. Following his discharge, he went to work for Exxon (then Humble). He first worked in the utilities department. He transferred to ER&E and retired from there in 1981 with 35 years of service with Exxon.
Pallbearers were Ross Moody, Aaron Moody, Dual Scott, Ben Waxman, Chad Brock and Christopher Brock.
In lieu of other remembrances donations may be made to St. Mark's Methodist Church, 3811 N. Main, Baytown, TX 77521 in Steve's memory or a charity of your choice.
