Suzanne Pruitt

Suzanne Pruitt, 72, of Baytown was born August 24, 1941 in Mabank, TX and passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at home. She graduated from Henderson Junior College in 1961, where she was a member of their drill team called the Cardettes in their first year. She then graduated from North Texas State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics and received her Masters of Elementary Education from East Texas State University. After moving to Baytown in 1968, she taught first grade at Highlands Elementary and then Hopper Elementary and retired from the Goose Creek school district. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and was a Mary Kay Distributor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, B. H. and Lois Pruitt. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Will and Pamela Pruitt of Athens; stepbrother and stepsister-in-law, Dick and Tina Hallum of Baytown; stepsister, Susie Hallum of Tyler; uncle, Howard Hamilton; niece and nephews, Lilly Pruitt, Brent and Brian Hallum, and Hal Conover; and cousins, Cindy Highsmith, Diane Eyster, David Hamilton, Jan Holloway, Kay Bandy, Bill Hamilton, Lee Ann Feuerbacher, Bobby Hamilton, Elizabeth Hamilton-Byrd, Pruitt Ashworth, and Sara Cook.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church, 600 W. Sterling St., Baytown, TX 77520, with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. Graveside services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens with Rev. Becky Love officiating.
