

Thomas William “T. W.” Mayer, 89, of Dayton was born November 28, 1927, in Porter, TX and passed away Friday, September 8, 2017, in a Liberty healthcare facility. He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown and was a member of the Pipefitters Local #211. He and his wife owned and operated The Oaks Lounge in Dayton for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Russell and Addie Lee Mayer; wife, Frances Jean Mayer; sister, Juanita Joyce Smith; daughter, Barbara Sue Mayer; and son, Kenneth Russell Mayer. He is survived by his sister, Norma Faye Wootan and special niece and her husband who served as his caregiver, Pam and Vernon Johnson, all of Old River-Winfree; former son-in-law who visited him often, Donnie Gayle Moreau of Dayton; and other nieces, nephews, and numerous other family members.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday, September 12, 2017, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Biddy officiating. Burial will follow at Hill of Rest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Orbrey Wootan, Tugger Wootan, Sherry Maris, Donnie Gayle Moreau, Craig Straight, and Clifford Straight. Vernon Johnson will be an honorary pallbearer.
His family would like to say a special “thank you” to the staff of the Magnolia Place Heath Care for the care and kindness shown Mr. Mayer.
