Thomas Clyde Riley, Jr., 77, passed away on March 1, 2011, in Baytown, Texas. Clyde was born Dec. 10, 1933, to Thomas Clyde Riley, Sr., and Harriet Lein, and grew up in Livingston. He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Caldwell in 1951, and was a member of the track and field team. He studied civil engineering at Cornell University and later became a licensed N.J. Professional Engineer. He served as project manager on several major highway designs including Route 18 in Monmouth County. He lived in Florham Park and Boonton before moving to Texas in 1997. He was a longtime member of the Livingston Elks and also enjoyed crossword puzzles, Ocean Grove and New York Giants football.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marian Riley, and sister, Beverly Seward. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Riley of Denver, CO, and John Riley of Arlington, VA; his stepchildren, Marianne Loyd of Quakertown, N.J., and Toby Loyd of Annandale, N.J.; his sister, Susan Wichterman of Cape May, N.J.; and two grandchildren, Ann Leslie and Colin Riley.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
