

Tommye Jean Garrison passed away on September 27, 2007 in Baytown, TX. Born August 3, 1929 in Texarkana, TX to Thomas F. Dunnington and Hazel G. Traylor, Tommye moved to Baytown in 1948 when she married Sylvester Garrison who preceded her in death. Tommye is survived by daughters, Sylvia Jean Cooper and husband Michael of Houston, Susan Lynn Jentho and husband David and Sheryl Ann Halter and husband Grant, all of Baytown.
Her grandchildren are Steven McDonald and Laura Walz, Matthew and Sabrina McDonald, Shawn and Nikki Hatcher all of Austin, Andrea and Will Pylate and Brandon Halter, all of Baytown. Her step-grandchildren are Brian, Scott and Kyle Jentho and Jenny and Beth Cooper.
Her great-granddaughters are McKenzie Pylate and expected Baby Hatcher.
Also surviving her are her brother Bill Dunnington and wife Myra of Baytown, nephews Dr. Joel Dunnington and wife Glenna of Houston, and Robert Dunnington and wife Edith of Albuquerque, NM and niece Marilyn Garrison Fontenot of League City, TX.
In her earlier years, Tommye was active in her daughters’ activities: President of the Stephen F. Austin Elementary School PTA and secretary of Sunday School at First Presbyterian Church. Later she became a successful real estate broker and owner of Bay Area Associates. As an active member of the Baytown Lions Club, she served as the coordinator of the Lions Club program to distribute discarded eyeglasses to the needy, and received the President’s Appreciation Award for her years of devoted service.
The girls would like especially to thank Ursline Gustave, Oscar Hagan, Joan Marcion and Pooh Constantine for the many years of loving care they provided for their mother. The family would also like to thank Regency Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at First Westminster Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2007. The family will receive friends and family in the church parlor immediately following the service.
