Vernon Earl "Dinky" Brooks. Born in Houston Tx on May 28, 1966, passed on May 3rd, 2021 at 54 years old. He lived with courage, he never did anything with fear and kept a straight face no matter what looked him in the eye.

Dinky was a creative soul. He always had a passion for art, drawing and tattooing at a young age, learning the song "Smoke on the Water" on guitar and playing it for an entire year, and covering his bike in probably 20 layers of paint by now. If you drove past a bar and saw that bike outside you'd already know exactly who it belonged to. That's the kind of person Dink was, when he did something he did it his own way.

Preceded in death by grandparents Julia and Lee Roy Brooks, Red and Doris Walker; uncle Vernon Earl Brooks, and step brothers Chuck and David. Survived by parents Barbara Landry, William and Francis Brooks; siblings Cindy, Gerald, and Kathy; step-siblings Ricky, Larry, and James; daughter Meghan; son Joey and grandchildren Riley, Ayden, and baby O.

Family and friends,

I enjoyed meeting Vernon "Dinky" during a Kairos Ministry "initiation" weekend. It was interesting to listen to his stories and make new friends with him and the other participants. God made him truly unique! I know God is enjoying eternity with our brother, and I look forward to seeing him again.

May God bless you and comfort you,

John Somma

R.I.P. Brother,
I met Vernon through the Kairos Prison Ministry at Ferguson near Midway. What a joyous weekend it was because Vernon gave his life to Jesus Christ, HALLELUJAHS! I also had the opportunity to share with him on two other occasions when I went back for Prayer and Share.

My heartfelt sympathies and condolences go out to your Family’s and Friend and may the peace that surpasses all understanding will comfort you and fill you with God’s grace and mercy. Peace be with you all!

GOD LOVES 💗YOU! And so do I!

Wow I am so very sad and shocked to hear of your passing Vernon. I met you through Kairos Prison ministry a couple years ago and we had been writing ever since. My heart is very sad. I had been waiting to hear back from you but hadn’t so decided to write you to find out what’s up. To find this out, not sure what happened but I pray you didn’t suffer. Your at peace now and I know I will see you again one day. I’ll never forget the day I put your picture in my leather jacket and took you for a motorcycle ride with me. Rest In Peace my friend and brother in Christ. Until we meet again sending love and hugs to you.
