Vivian Katherine Smith

She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, attended Lee College, and graduated from the University of Houston in elementary education and later received her M.A.

Vivian had two careers. Most dear to her was that of being a wife and mother. Secondly, she was a school teacher. She spent over 20 years teaching children at Barbers Hill Elementary School. She was totally devoted to her students and cared deeply for each and every one.

She was a faithful member of the Pruett and Lobit Street Church of Christ for many years and attended Wonsley Drive Church of Christ in Austin.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, William Leo Hanna and Lena Katherine Treybig Hanna; her husband, Tommie Lee Smith; her children, Katherine Lee Smith and Gene Marshall Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Elmer Udo (Pete) and Juanita (Tete) Hanna; brother-in-law James Milton Lawless; niece Lee Katherine Lawless; great nephews, Brett Wims and Brad Wims; and son-in-law Thomas Goggan III.

She is survived by her daughter Dianne Goggan; her granddaughters and their husbands, Ingrid Dianne and Vasileios Lelos and Rachel Elizabeth Goggan and Travis Indgjer; Katherine Elizabeth and Peter Anderson, and Jeanine Dianne and Stephen May; her great grandsons, Ryan Anderson, Pericles Lelos, Rowan Indgjer, and Alexander May; her great granddaughters Emily Anderson, Anastasia Lelos, Abigail Indgjer, Magdalena Indgjer and Anastasia May; her sisters Lois Lawless and Jean Cates; brother-in-law Reagan Cates; nieces, Sandra Wims, Linda Bosse, Regina Cates and Rachel Morse; nephew Bill Hanna; daughter-in-law Sharon Smith.

The family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown Wednesday evening from 5pm - 7pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Thursday morning at Navarre Funeral Home with Mark Mayberry of Alvin officiating. Burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Garth Road.

Pallbearers will be Vasileios Lelos, Travis Indgjer, Bill Hanna, David Wims, Gene Bosse, and Bill Parrish.

Special mention to Vivian's caregivers who provided exceptional care in her later years.
