

Walter Alfred Simpson, 87, of Baytown passed away May 11, 2015, in the hospital after a lengthy illness. Walter was born May 26, 1927, in Pennington, TX to Walter Lee and Myrtle Ann Simpson. He had 8 siblings.
Walter married Dorothy Peacock Simpson on September 11, 1953. They were married 59 years. Their family included 8 children. Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and his parents, Walter and Myrtle Simpson. He was also preceded in death by two children, daughter, Billie Fifield and son, Rex Petty. Sister and brothers, Betty Henderson, Earl Simpson, and Clois Simpson also preceded him in death.
Walter served in the Army where he earned the World War II Victory Medal, was a local paint contractor and restaurant owner in the Baytown/La Porte area. Until illness prevented him from doing so, he enjoyed one of his favorite past times ""horse trading"" with friends at the White Elephant Flea Market.
Surviving children include son, Walter B. Simpson and wife Veronica of Humble, son, Glen Simpson and wife Holly of Loveland, CO, daughter, Sue Mullens and husband Robert of Baytown, daughter-in-law, June Petty, son, Bo Simpson and wife Lisa of New Port Richey, FL, son, Ron Simpson and wife Judy of Columbia, SC and daughter, Lisa Simpson of Baytown. Walter and Dorothy were blessed with 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and two future great, great grandchildren. Walter is also survived by grand-dog and buddy, ""Dante."" Walter's surviving siblings include Alene Gibbs, Floyd Simpson, Nita Wilkinson, Billie Walker, and Lois Shimdl.
Special friends include Trinidad May, Betty Milam, Mary Gouner and all the friends at the White Elephant. The family is grateful to Rowena, Amy and Nona at Lifesource Home Health for years of caring service.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. with services to follow at 10:00 a.m. with son-in-law, Robert D. Mullens and son, Ron Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons.
