

William Anson died on April 26, 2006 at his home in Baytown, Texas. He died quietly in his sleep. He was born in Sauchie, Scotland, on February 9, 1923 to George and Catherine Marr Anson. The Anson Family is part of the Gunn Clan.
The Anson family immigrated to the United States in 1925 and settled in Island Park, New York where Bill spent his youth. With the outbreak of World War II, Bill was drafted into the Army Air Corp, pending his appointment to Aviation Cadet Training. Bill served with the 489th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, in England. After the war and his return to civilian life, Bill graduated from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York with a B.S. in Business Administration. He was recalled for duty in the U.S. Air Force for the Korean Conflict. While stationed at Randolph AFB in San Antonio, Texas he met Melba and they were married in New Braunfels, Texas in 1952.
Mr. Anson was raised in the Island Park Methodist Church and in Baytown was a member of Grace Methodist Church. He was a member of the San Marino Masonic Lodge, San Marino, California. He supported the 8th Air Force Museum in Halesworth, England, the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., and the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Savannah, Georgia. Bill served as president and held other offices of the Pasadena, California Quarterback Club and was very active with the Tournament of Roses Parade Association in Pasadena, California.
Bill was employed by Merril Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Bean in New York and was transferred to Pasadena, California as the backstage office manager. He later became an account executive with Merril Lynch. In 1969 Bill moved his family to Baytown, Texas to open brokerage house Thomas, Powers, and Coogan. Later, Bill was employed by and retired from Brooks Bros.
Mr. Anson is preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother George Anson Jr., his sister Louisa Anson and his brother-in-law, Arthur “Bud” Seaman, all of New York, and sister, Catherine Anson of San Francisco, California.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Melba Bose Anson; his daughters, Darilyn Anson of Spring, Texas, and Roxolyn Anson of Baytown, Texas; his sister, Margaret Seaman of Oceanside, N.Y.; brothers, Norval Anson and wife Betsy of Bridgewater, Conn., and Harry Anson and wife Mary of Sunnyvale, California; brother-in-law, Robert Bernard Bose and wife Nancy Legge Bose of Plano, Texas; sister-in-law, Roxolin Bose Krueger and husband Doyle of New Braunfels, Texas. There are many dearly loved nieces, nephews and greats and friends.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Saturday April, 29, 2006 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. His remains will be interred at Houston National Cemetery.
