

William Roy “Bill” “Pawpaw” Clift, 67, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 as the result of a 4-wheeler accident while riding in the mountains of Colorado. He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 3, 1938. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1957.
Bill retired from Chevron Cedar Bayou Chemical Plant in October 1993 and spent the last 12+ years of his life traveling in his motorhome with his wife, Gwen. Winters were spent in Brownsville and they returned home to Wallisville in the spring. As the weather warmed up, they headed north for cooler climates. Some of their favorite places included Colorado, New Mexico, and Canada. They returned to Wallisville in the fall and remained for the holidays and then started the cycle over again.
Almost everyone he met as they traveled across the US and Canada became a friend and he enjoyed visiting with all of them. He enjoyed fishing in Brownsville, Colorado and the Great Lakes. Pawpaw took special pride in shooting with his grandsons in Oklahoma, watching his granddaughters perform music in Texas and hunting with all four.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Clift. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Davis Clift of Wallisville; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Belinda Clift of Oklahoma City, and Scot and Angie Clift of Highlands; mother, Jewell Clift, sister, Loretta Clift, and brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Sharon Clift, all of Baytown, and his grandchildren, the pride and joy of his life, Justin and Kevin Clift of Oklahoma City and Alyssa and Aryn Clift of Highlands, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will welcome friends on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Navarre Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2006 at Navarre Funeral Home with Tommy Clift officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery, 3010 Ferry Road , Baytown, Texas.
Pallbearers will be David Webb, Criss Dippel, Gerald Sherman, AJ McGraw, Nick Woolsey, Raymond Henderson, Justin Clift, Kevin Clift.
