Bill married Judy on August 13, 1962 in Dumas, TX. He enlisted in the US Army and served for six years. They were blessed with three daughters. Bill spent 24 years in the natural gas industry, beginning in the mechanical role and retired in a management position. Bill valued his staff and he was well respected by them. After retirement, Bill pursued his dream along with his wife, Judy, when they purchased Red 11 Port, a resort on Grand Lake in Grove, OK. This allowed him to fulfill his desire to continue working with people and working with his hands, while remaining close to his real passion, fishing.
Alongside Bill’s professional endeavors, he enjoyed many hobbies. Woodworking, fishing, camping, photography, and gaming were just a few. He cherished his family including the four-legged members.
To anyone who knew him, he was lovingly referred to as Grandpa because he was the leader of our pack. He shared his vast knowledge and experience to help guide his family through the ups and downs of life. His intelligence and thirst for knowledge made every moment with him exciting.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, father and mother.
He is survived by his children; Vonnie Gordon, Leslie and husband Timmy Cook, Trina and husband Rick Svendsen; 11 grandchildren, Rachael, Brandon, Cory, Tara, Michael, Jennifer, Missy and husband Briggs, Travis, Trevor and Jordan; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sandy Springer, Edie McBride, Jaime McBride; and numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.
We will be celebrating his life June 15th, with a visitation at 12pm and services at 2pm at Earthman funeral home in Baytown. Following the Baytown services, we will be laying him to rest in Amarillo Memorial Park, next to mom on June 18th at 2pm for graveside services
