Ben D. Vaughn, Sr., age 92, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 in Beaumont, TX. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday 4, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
Mr. Vaughn was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 10, 1922 to the late Frank and Ida Long Vaughn. He was a retired welder with the Local 195 Pipefitter’s Union after 60 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of Vidor and a member of the Rose City Baptist Church. He enjoyed shrimping and was an avid gardener, raising beautiful camellias. Ben loved his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Edith Odeal Vaughn, a son Ben D. Vaughn, Jr., grandson Steven Vaughn, brothers; Pat and Ray Vaughn and a sister Virginia Smith.
Survivors include son, Terry Vaughn and his wife Evelyn of Vidor, TX and a daughter Cheryl Obrien and her husband Terry of Vidor, TX. Grandchildren; David Vaughn and wife Denise of Orange, TX, Phillip Vaughn and wife Amy of Orange, TX, Curtis Obrien of Huntington, TX, Chris Obrien of Beaumont, TX, granddaughter-in-law Renee Vaughn and Ben D. Vaughn III. As well as numerous great grandchildren.
