

Charles Thomas Fulton, age 86, passed on to be with our Lord on April 6, 2016. Charles has been a native of Beaumont, Texas since January of 1953. He was born in his grandparents’ home in Alto, Texas on August 23, 1929. He was raised on a farm in the community of Barsola. Charles attended Barsola Grammar School and Wells High School where he graduated in 1950. He was a wise man, with extreme ethics and a very firm faith in God. Charles loved his family beyond words.
After graduating high school, Charles moved to Lufkin, Texas and worked delivering ice and moving on to employment with the Lufkin Foundry. It was in Lufkin where he met the love of his life and soul mate, Octavy Bentley. After a few months of dating, Charles was called to duty with the United States Army. He hitch-hiked from Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Lufkin almost every weekend to see Tavy. While on furlough, Charles wed Octavy Bentley on August 23, 1951. During their honey moon, Charles received notice that he was to ship out to Korea. He arrived in Pusan, Korea where he was stationed, on November 3, 1951. Charles served two years in Korea and Japan and arrived back in the states on January 17, 1953, serving in the Army Reserves until Honorably Discharged on October 24, 1956.
Settling in Beaumont, Charles and Tavy began their young life together. Charles loved fishing, hunting, camping and devoting time to his wife and children. Countless weekends where spent at area lakes, where the family swam, water skied and enjoyed each other’s company. He was baptized as a Christian at Dunn’s Chapel Church of Christ outside of Lufkin, Texas. Charles and Tavy were members of Ridgewood Church in Beaumont since 1971. He worked as a manager of O’Bannion’s Convenience Stores for eleven years and retired in 1998 after working thirty-three years, self-employed as a wholesale distributor for Super Sox Sales Company.
Charles Thomas Fulton is preceded in death by his wife, Octavy Bentley Fulton, his father Clyde Littleton Fulton and mother, Avis Lyles Fulton, and two brothers, Bruce Fulton and Herschel Fulton, all of Lufkin, Texas. Survivors include two daughters, Sharlene Annette Mullikin and her husband Ron Mullikin of Houston, Sharon Elizabeth Thompson of Beaumont, and one son Tommy Lynn Fulton of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, three grandchildren, Sarah Elaine Thompson of Beaumont, Caitlyn Cory Mullikin and Cameron Sean Mullikin of Houston. Nieces and nephews include Jerry Fulton of Arlington, Texas, Linda Skarke of Beaumont, Mike Turner of Galveston, George Ferguson and Joyce Annette Lovell of Alto, Texas. Great nieces and nephews are Lara Dart, Thomas Mosley, Edward Skarke III, and Charles Frederick Skarke.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Walker, Minister at Ridgewood Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment will follow on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Houston VA National Cemetery with Military Honors.
