Debbie was born on July 6th, 1954, to Donald and Joan Brogan at the US Naval Base in Yokosuka, Japan. After the completion of her father’s military service, the family relocated to Delaware where she was raised with her younger siblings, Donald Jr., Tim & Betsy. In 1970 the family moved to Beaumont after her father took a position at the Dupont Chemical Refinery. Debbie attended Forest Park High School and worked as a paramedic until 1979 when she met the love of her life, Robert William Streeper.
Bob and Debbie were married on June 15th, 1979. Together they raised three sons: Christopher, Benjamin and Michael. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s Debbie served her community as an active Cub Scout leader in the Three Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America. She also operated a small business called Stork News. During the late 90’s and early 2000’s, Debbie served as the house mother to the men of Sigma Nu Fraternity at Lamar University where all three sons were members. She was affectionately called “Momma Streeper” by the Sigma Nus.
As her boys transitioned into adulthood, she made the transition from being mom to grandmother. Chris married Vauna (Paradee) and together they have six children: Derek, Dylan, Bryan, Morgan, Judah & Conor. Ben married Raina (Menefee) and together they have two children: Jodie & Tony. Mike married April (Venable) and together they have five children: Addyson, Samantha, Xander, Olivia & Jason.
Debbie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron of Nederland Chapter #1079 from 2011-2013. She was also a member of the Social Order of the Beauceant and the Daughters of the Nile. Debbie was passionate about helping others learn to read and was extremely involved in several adult & youth literacy programs throughout SE Texas.
Debbie described herself as a wife to a wonderful husband, mother to three super sons, and granny to thirteen delightful darlings. And that is exactly who she was… a loving wife, a caring mother, and a fantastic granny.
She is preceded in death by her parents Don & Joan, and her in-laws, Horace & Jeanette. She is survived through her husband, siblings, sons, grandchildren, and all those who ever called her “mom.”
