Genevieve Elizabeth Barrett

Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Mark Barrett, Jr. and a brother, Charles Edward Friel. She is survived by sons, Willis Mark Barrett III and wife, Cathy, John Christopher Barrett and wife, Kerri; daughter, Catherine Richmond and husband, John; grandchildren, Lauren, Leslie, Jonathan and Zachary.

Genevieve Barrett moved from her home state of Pennsylvania to Beaumont, Texas in 1943. After graduation from South Park High School in 1946 she was employed in the accounting department of Magnolia Petroleum Company for a period of 5 years. It was during this period that she met and married Willis Mark Barrett, Jr. She graduated from the Vocational Nursing Program at Lamar Institute of Technology in 1966, and was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 7 years. She always enjoyed music and poetry, and was a member of the Senior Citizen Choir at First Baptist Church for a number of years. She was also a member of the Beaumont Chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas, which she joined in July 2003. Her life was her family and friends and she will be greatly missed.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Rosemont Assisted Living Facility in Kingwood, Texas.
