George Allen "Sparky" Watts, Sr., 90, of Lumberton died Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at his residence. A native of Beaumont, Sparky has lived in Lumberton for the past10 years and was a retired electrician with the IBEW Local #479. Sparky proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Montrose and the USS Missouri, during the Korean War. Sparky enjoyed dancing with his wife Vivian, gardening, fishing, spending time at Crystal Beach, and one his favorite places to travel was to Pensacola, FL. Sparky coached little league baseball, and was an avid Houston Astros Fan.
A celebration of George's Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the funeral home.
Sparky was preceded in death by his loving wife Vivian Sue Horton Watts, parents, Leon and Annie Watts, his 4 brothers, Harold Watts, Joseph Watts, Edward Watts, and Porter Watts, and his 2 sisters, Callie Kulp and Rose Higginbotham.
Sparky is survived by his daughter, Leslie Watts-Welch and her husband Terry of Beaumont,
son, George Watts, Jr and Katie Moline O'Donovan of Lumberton, grandchildren, Makenzie Alyse Watts, and Kolson Maxwell Watts both of Lumberton, Christopher Welch of Beaumont, and Christen Welch of Mansfield, TX., grand puppies, Tippi, Ada Belle, Brody, and Bailey.
Pallbearers for the service will be: Glen Morgan, Christopher Welch, Brandon Corley, Justin Morrison, Micah Vidrine, Ray Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kolson Watts, Terry Welch, and Dale Brooks.
In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made in honor of Mr. George Allen "Sparky" Watts, Sr., to a charity of your choice.
