Grace was born on February 24, 1931 in Forest Home, Alabama to Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Thompson. After the death of her father, the family came to live in Beaumont, Texas while she was still a girl. She was a graduate of South Park High School and was awarded a scholarship to Hotel Dieu Nursing School.
Grace was a gracious, faithful, and active member of her local church from childhood throughout her life. She was a caring woman who loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart. In life she continued to develop and grow in her relationship with God, family, and all those that were blessed to have known her. She was married to Lee Picard, Jr. and together they had 4 children, Sandra, Sid, Jodi, and Nuage. She enjoyed reading books, studying the Bible, and being outdoors. She liked to sit in her swing on the back porch, drink her morning and evening coffee, as she would praise and thank God for His beautiful creation in nature and His master paintings of the sky. She loved watching the early morning sun rise and hearing the birds sing. She had a green thumb. She could plant a stick in the ground and make it grow. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was active in her communities giving and serving others. She was a retired President of Gulf Coast Electric Co., Inc. and served on the board Of Schlesinger Nursing Home.
She lived in a way that exemplified Christ. Through prayer she was a warrior for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Grace has left her legacy not in worldly wealth but in the difference she made to all those who knew her. To those who asked her for counsel she gave God given advice that was grounded in Biblical wisdom.
Although we will all miss her, Grace is home with our Lord and Savior.
Those who preceded her in death are her loving husband, Lee Picard, Jr; her daughter, Sandra Jean Picard; her brother, Ellis H. Thompson; her sister, Doris Thompson Day; her parents E. Herman Thompson and Nannie Gray Thompson Hughes.
