He was born in Brady, TX and lived in Nederland, TX for 47 years. John grew up in Beaumont where he graduated French High School and Lamar University. He served in the United State Navy aboard the USS Des Moines. Retired from Ameripol Synpol (formerly Texas U.S. Chemical) in Port Neches, TX. He enjoyed riding his Harley and being part of the Cowboy Harley HOG chapter. John was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.
John was husband to Phyllis Madden for over 50 years. He was the youngest of two sons, (William E. Coston the oldest) of John E. and Mildred Coston. He was a loving father to daughters, Lori Ivins and husband Wayne and Lisa Thibodeaux and husband Brent. Known as "Grandy", to his four grandsons, Justin, Brandon, Cody and Andrew Ivins and as "Grandy Grandy" to his two great-grandsons Layton and Kylon Ivins.
Visitation from 1:00 - 3:00 pm held Monday, March 14, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine St. in Beaumont. Graveside service at 3:00 pm.
