Joy Onez Hawthorne, 83, a seventy-one year resident of Beaumont, passed away on Saturday August 29, 2015 at her residence. She was born on Wednesday May 11, 1932 in Mobile, Alabama and lived there until the age of twelve. Joy was a Baptist and attended church when she was able. She worked as the Business Manager for her husband’s A.J. Hawthorne Printing. Joy enjoyed cooking, watching soap operas especially The Young and The Restless. She was also very good at shorthand writing and basically was said to be a grand ole country girl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Donna Mae Vick Winfrey, two sons, Dennis Hawthorne, Roddy Hawthorne and daughter Sandra Mason.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Alton James Hawthorne of Beaumont, brother, L.D. Winfrey of Silsbee, three grandchildren, Michael Mason, James Ryan Mason and wife Ana Wolfowicz, Ashley Simpson and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 3, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
