Lieselotte “Lottie” Blanda passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on October 11, 2023 in Round Rock, Texas. Lottie was born in Nordenham, Germany in 1934 and moved to Beaumont, Texas in 1957 where she lived until 2014 when she moved to Austin, Texas to be closer to her daughter .
Upon arriving in Beaumont in 1957, Lottie wasted no time learning English by watching The Red Skelton show and working as a seamstress. In 1962, she was naturalized as a US citizen, an accomplishment she was always so proud of. After an introduction by one of her close friends, she married the love of her life, Vic, in 1963.
Never meeting a stranger, her heart was open to everyone she met and was always willing to lend a helping hand. This attribute served her well when she worked for both The White House and Dillards in Beaumont, retiring from retail in 2012. Her kindness and beautiful spirit will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to meet her.
Lottie is preceded in death by her husband Victor Blanda, parents Arbiter and Antje Buscher, brother Jonannes Buscher, and sister Anneliese Tharp. She is survived by her only daughter, Lisa Blanda (Romi Bodin), nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
A Committal Service will be held Friday, November 3, 2023, 11:00AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas, in the Garden of Gethsemane.
We would like to thank the staff at Park Valley Inn Nursing Center for their compassionate care.
