

She was born January 20, 1923 in Navasota, Texas and graduated from Navasota High School in 1941. After graduation she worked for the Selective Service Board, Southern Union Gas and Gulf States Utilities Company in Navasota. It was while working at GSU that she met Sterling Oliver, whom she married on June 21, 1953 in Navasota.
In Beaumont, she was a 62-year member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Though she was primarily a “homebody,” she relished trips to Las Vegas, San Francisco and Napa, CA with her good friend Agnes Lee Palmer and a Caribbean cruise with her cousin-in-laws Mary Jane Ellis and Buddy & Louise Oliver. She took great pride in living independently up until the time of her death which would not have been possible without the frequent help and support of longtime friends Pete & Ruth Wade and Rachel Carmichael.
Lillian is survived by her son Steven Oliver of Austin, Nieces Doris Laughlin of Columbus, TX and Jane Meldahl of Eagle Lake, TX, three grandnieces and two grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Emmett and Lucy Watkins Alley, her husband Sterling, and her brother W. C. (Dub) Alley.
The family will receive visitors at Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Friday April 24, 2015 from 5:00P.M. - 7:00 P.M.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday April 25, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
