Madell Laverne Nix

A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 at

2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Carla Shield officiating. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday,

December 2, 2010, from 5–8 PM at the Funeral Home.

Laverne was born on March 29, 1931 in Malakoff, Texas to the late James Ermin Chaney and Nora Mae Williams Chaney. The family moved to Beaumont in 1941, where she later met and married the love of her life, Ralph H. Nix. After nearly 62 years of marriage, Ralph succumbed to Alzheimer’s Disease on January 2, 2010.

Laverne was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Garland W. Chaney and Vernon E. Chaney; four sisters: Azel L Long, Erma Dean James, Ouida M. Tompkins, and Delora B. Ferrell.

Survivors are two sons: Randall G. Nix (Joette) of Portland, OR. and

Gerald A. Nix of Vinton, LA; and a daughter: Cheryl L. Moore (Charles)

of Beaumont; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are nephews, grandsons, and great grandson: Gary Hanback, William L. Manning, Brannon Manning, Jerry Ray Nix, Jeff Ballance, and Kolton Ballance.
