

Rita Marie Uhyrek Trahan, 82, a lifelong resident of Beaumont passed away on Thursday July 30, 2015 in Conroe, Texas. Rita was born on May 20, 1933 in Wallis, Texas to her parents Joseph and Cecilia Gallia Uhyrek who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Thomas Trahan, four brothers, Sammy, Jerry, Charlie, Dennis, sister, Cecilia, and grandson John Thomas Mullins. Rita is survived by one son, Paul Matthew Trahan of Beaumont, four daughters, Deborah Bishop and husband Thomas of Montgomery, Texas, Theresa Dear and husband Billy of Sour Lake, Amelia Hebert of Beaumont, Cecilia Redden and husband Steve of Lumberton, brother, Benjamin Uhyrek and wife Mary Lou of Wallis, Texas, sisters, Irene Gorka of Houston, and Betty Beckermann of Yakima, Washington. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Rita was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed solving word search and jigsaw puzzles, cross stitching, embroidery, reading and basically just loved to sit and observe her surroundings. She also loved having family around and meeting all of their wants and needs. She was a faithful member of St. Anthony Basilica in Beaumont.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at St. Anthony Basilica Cathedral. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
