May 1, 1928-August 20, 2013
Billie Ann was born to Buford and Ruby Jones in Van Buren, Arkansas. At the age of 17 Billie married Harvey George Elwell on July 12, 1945. They moved to Minnesota and then settled in Bismarck, North Dakota.
In 1953, they moved to Beaverton, Oregon. Billie and Harvey raised their three children while living in Beaverton. Billie and Harvey moved to Hillsboro in 1998. Harvey passed way in 1999. Harvey worked and Billie were married for 54 years. Billie lived in Tualatin from 2005 until her passing. She as a Nurse’s Aide at Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro, Oregon for over 40 years; she worked until she was 75 years old. Billie worked the ‘night shift’, so she could be there for her precious children when they arrived home from school. This revealed her heart.
Billie truly, deeply enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren! She also favored gardening and was a fabulous cook! She deeply honored her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and His Church with her life. Billie was a member of Christ-Center of Beaverton for decades, followed by faithfully attending Life Church in Aloha, being an avid member of the Senior’s Group, “The Greatest Generation”, serving on the “Leadership Team.” She thoroughly enjoyed the Senior’s activities! Billie was a true volunteer: Billie volunteered at the Store at River Valley Assisted Living, her home the last years of her earthly life.
One thing of note: Although not a great talker, Billie loved to laugh … and she was known as a very funny woman.
She leaves behind her sister, Rose Marie Dapprich and her brother, James Ray Jones, her children, Ronald Hugh Elwell, Patricia Marie Sykes (Michael Wayne Sykes, Son-In-Law) and Roxanne Hickman (Gregory James Hickman, Son-In-Law) as well as grandchildren, Michael Gregory Hickman (Krystina Ann Brown, Fiance) and Tiffany Diane Chapin (Lonnie James Chapin, Husband).
Billie Ann Elwell went to be with her two “forever-loves” of her life: Jesus, and her beloved husband Harvey, on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Today … they dance!
Billie was not a woman of verbal love as much as a displayed love … she reflected that love to others in acts of service-above-self. This is the legacy of Billie Ann Elwell … a spectacular lady!
A committal shelter service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland at 2:00 on Monday, August 26, 2013.
