

Charles Donald Borho was born March 10, 1926 in Nekoma, North Dakota, the son of Alexander Borho and Julia Koehmstedt. He attended schools in Nekoma until he entered the U.S. Marines in 1944, serving in Okinawa and Northern China until 1946. He then attended the University of Portland, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950. In 1951, he began his seminary studies at Mt. Angel Seminary and from there went on to theological studies at St. Edward Seminary in Kenmore, Washington. Fr. Borho was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Portland on May 18, 1957.
Fr. Borho's ministry of 54 years included: assistant director of St. Mary's Home for Boys in Beaverton; associate pastor/pastor at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Astoria; associate pastor of St. James Parish in McMinnville; pastor, St. Cecilia Parish in Beaverton; and pastor of St. Paul's Parish, St. Paul until his retirement in July of 2009.
Upon retirement, Fr. Borho moved to Mount Angel Towers and resided there until ill health in association with lung cancer necessitated his move to Maryville Nursing Home.
Fr. Borho was preceded in death by brothers, Leslie, Joseph, Arnold, James and John, and sisters, Geneva and Mary Borho. He is survived by brothers Cyril, Norbert, Alfred, as well as numerous other family members.
A Rosary will be Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Beaverton; Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 11:00 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Portland; burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery also in Portland.
