Anne was born on July 26, 1937 in Portland, Tennessee. She was the only child of Ewing & Lillian Summers Sheucraft. Anne went to school in White House, Tennessee and she was Valedictorian for the Class of '55. Having lost her father at the age of 15, Anne moved shortly after graduation to Indianapolis with her mother and her cousin Norma, whom she was close to all her life and loved like a sister. She and Norma went to work at Western Electric in Indianapolis.
Anne soon met W. Ray Allen, who was from Auburn, KY and they were married a year and a half later. With Ray, came a large, loving family. The Allens welcomed Anne and her mother with open arms and treated them as family. Anne especially loved gaining boisterous little brothers, as well as nieces and nephews. Ray and Anne welcomed Gary Ray Allen in 1957 and Sherry Anne Allen arrived a year later. Anne was a hard worker, but a fun Mom and always made time to do things with her kids and extended family. She loved and cherished people more than anything else in her life.
Anne later went to work for H&R Block and eventually taught tax preparation for them. She and Ray moved to Beech Grove in 1980 and Anne went to work for the state, where she later retired as an accountant for the State of Indiana. Their biggest joy in retirement was being very involved with their grandchildren. They went to every ball game, every performance and event. Their grandchildren loved spending the weekends at their house. Anne also loved being involved with her church family at Good Shepherd UMC, especially the children.
In addition to her Allen family and Norma, Anne was especially close to her Sheucraft cousins; Carol, Judy, Brenda and Barbara. She also enjoyed regular dates with her Lunch Ladies; Vickie, Barb and Joyce.
Anne volunteered for many years with her daughter and granddaughter at Servants Heart food pantry, as well as Shepherd's Harvest free food distribution. Anne didn't have a lot growing up and always wanted to feed people. Any memorial contributions can be made to either: www.servantsheartofindy.org, or www.gsumcIndy.org
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty years and her precious son. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry and her grandchildren; Justin, Kyle and Autumn Anne.
