Born to Margaret “Peggy” and Norman Swengel on February 9, 1954, she graduated from Franklin Central High School in 1972 where she had been an active member of the Girls’ Athletic Association and the editor of the Franklin Central yearbook, Flashback.
Betsy's athletic endeavors continued after high school with the nationally-ranked Indianapolis Capettes slow pitch softball team. She was among the best in the region playing first base and recognized as an outstanding hitter. Her working life included years at Sonitrol alarm company and Meijer. Betsy was known for her kind and generous nature caring for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lloyd W. Swengel and sister Carol J. Reel. Betsy is survived by brother Richard “Rick” (Paula) Swengel, sister Cindy (Don) Boothby, and brother Steven “Steve” Swengel, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Betsy will be held Monday, September 8, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove, IN 46107, followed by a funeral service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
