Byron Robert Gott

BYRON R (BOB) GOTT Byron Robert (Bob) Gott passed from this life on February 5, 2019. He was born in Bowling Green KY on July 21, 1927, to Byron R Gott and Myrtie Ellen Catron Gott. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1945, serving his country in Japan, in the occupying army, at the end of World War II. Following his service to his country, Bob moved to Beech Grove, IN, where he met the love of his life, Mary Josephine Bennett. They were married on March 12, 1948, and she preceded him in death. They were happily married for 66 years. Bob was a member of Teamsters Local 135, working for McLean Trucking Company from 1955 until they closed in 1986. Bob is survived by 1 sister, Betty Conover, of Shelbyville. Bob and Jo were the parents of 6 children. Judi Gott of Fairland, Kathy Gott Crafton of Fairland, Sue Gott Branham of Greenwood, Bob Gott (Pam) of Southport, Jeanne Gott Quillen (Clarence) of Manilla, who passed away in 2017, and Tom Gott (Annie), who passed away in 2006. They had 10 grandchildren. Leah Howell Dunn (Rob), Matthew Howell (Chasity), Alexis Behnkendorf (Ben), Sarah Gott-Helton (Brian), Beth Gott Lisby (Ted), Nathan Gott (Dena), Meghann Crafton, Jessica Crafton, Nick Branham (Heather), and Jaime Branham. They also had step-grand children Brian Quillen, Aaron Quillen, Kelly Wire, Ryan Lawless, Jesse Novotny, and Sean Novotny. They had numerous great grandchildren. Bob loved his wife and family first and foremost. He made everyone feel special and good about themselves. He was never too busy to sit down with family to just chat or to discuss a concern. His other loves were music, long country drives, big family dinners and everything to do with cars! "He lived a great life, and had more love around him than most men will ever experience; he was a great man." Bob will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. A private celebration of his life will be held at an undetermined date
