Charles worked for 30 years at Allison Transmission Local 933 where he retired from skilled trades in 2009. He was a very calculated and fabricating perfectionist that loved motorsports. Charles loved going to the dirt track, traveling with his wife Patty, and going camping at the track with his family and friends. He also loved having his grandchildren over and doing and going places with them. Charles enjoyed having them help him around the house to do little odd and end jobs and making chump change as he called it. He enjoyed building his own race cars and engine from the ground up and everything was always top notch.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Dustin Keith Coles.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Patty” Neely Coles; sons, Dennis Coles, Wayne (Kathy) Garner; daughter, Shelly (Oggie) Garner Nunez; grandchildren, Payton Garner, Madisyn Nunez, Cassie (Nick) Jonhson, and Colin Taulman; along with his sister, Lena (Frank) Coles Helit; and last, but not forgotten, his best paw buddy ever, Chance Coles. Chance was Charles best paw buddy and they went everywhere together. Chance was Charles riding buddy and they often went camping and he also traveled with Charles and Patty.
