

82, of Indianapolis, passed away April 5, 2011. He was born November 9, 1928 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Joseph and Marie Ellinger. Charles worked as a tool and die maker at Diamond Chain for 24 years and as an Associate Professor of Labor Studies at Indiana University for 23 years. Chuck was a longtime member of Holy Name Catholic Church and sang in the Choir for 54 years. He was a member to several local Choirs and very active with the Steelworkers Union, Indiana Central Labor Council, United Way, and St. Vincent de Paul. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Ellinger; daughters, Beth Luster, Janette Lynch, Christina (Dennis) O’Donnell, Kathleen (John) Sparks, and Joyce Ellinger; son, Timothy (Sheila) Ellinger; sisters, Mary (Robert) Franz and Regina Murrin; brother, Joseph Ellinger; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Visitation is Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Little & Sons Beech Grove Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, April 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or American Cancer Society.
