

Daniel Lee Collins Sr., born May 24, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the age of 83, due to a long, extended illness at home, surrounded by family. Daniel was a resident of Anderson, Indiana. He was a devoted and steadfast presence to those who knew and loved him, and his life will be remembered with formal and respectful gratitude by all who shared in it.
Daniel attended Harry Wood High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, and later served in the United States Marine Corps. He went on to work as an industrial electrician at the Indianapolis Citizen Gas, Coke and Utility, bringing steady skill and pride to his work. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 88, the VFW, and 40/8.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Collins and Pearl Collins, and his son, Daniel Lee Collins Jr.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Collins, and his sisters, Edna Burge, Helen Purcell, and Jean Ross.
He is survived by his partner of 48 years, Margaret Bell, and his children, Theresa Collins, Christopher Collins, Thomas Collins, Jason Collins (Eve), and Matthew Collins (Jennifer). He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; by his brother, Ronald; and by his sisters, Mary Mabrey and Shirley Callaway. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
In his quieter moments, Daniel enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, and tinkering with electronics. He also liked a cold drink—simple pleasures that reflected the familiar, down-to-earth ways he connected with everyday life.
A Celebration of Life for friends to gather and share memories will be held at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107, on April 7, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Danny will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
