Diana (Harris) Newerth was born in Eastern Kentucky in 1930 to Taylor and Bessie (Smith) Harris and raised with nine siblings on a farm near Palmyra, Indiana.
Six months after high school graduation, she met her future husband, Donald, on New Year’s Eve. They raised five children in Beech Grove. After her youngest started school, she had several jobs in manufacturing and retired in 1995. Diana’s life centered on her friends, church, and family. She was an active member of Southwood Baptist Church for over 40 years. She loved volunteering in the community and reading romance novels. At Christmastime, she made Chex mix for everyone she knew.
Diana had a quiet and loving faith, was a great listener, and was never one to judge others. She had lifelong friendships and was cherished by her new friends too.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Newerth, and two sons, Jacque and Kevin Newerth.
She is survived by sisters Doris Polsley Gay and Delva Jean Ayres; children Scott Newerth, Sheree (Diego) Morado, Brian (Nancy) Newerth, and daughter-in-law Sharon (Jacque) Newerth; grandchildren Alyssa, Brandon, Dawn, Jon, Shelby, Chelsea, Savannah, Shannon, Scottie, Joey, and Emily; 10 great-grandchildren; and dozens of devoted nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her dearly.
