Greg was born July 7, 1961 and raised in the city Beech Grove, Indiana, attending Beech Grove High School, class of 1980. Greg was the youngest of 4 children to Robert and Mila “Sue” Hostetter. Greg spent his childhood always involved in some type of sport. He enjoyed and excelled at basketball, baseball, and football. His love of sports and experience was later paid forward by serving as a coach for the Beech Little League Baseball team the “Diamond backs”.
Greg also enjoyed working with hands, at a young age he began working for McCloud and Sons, building homes. He also attended Central Nine Vocational School studying Building Trades. Greg used this experience to later establish his own business, Hostetter Custom Framing and Remodeling. Greg also worked for Malone's Catering for a period of time where he managed their deli at the City Market in downtown Indianapolis.
Greg was very big hearted and always willing to lend a hand to about anyone who asked. He especially had a soft spot for children and animals. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and watching them grow. Greg and his wife Lisa did not have children of their own but were godparents to Michael Zainey, their nephew, who came to live with them after his mother, Lori, passed away. He is fondly referred to as ‘Uncle Daddy” or “Sir”. Greg was a wonderful father figure to Michael and extremely proud of the man he has become. They have also had several fur babies over the years: their labs ‘Buddy’, and ‘Daisy’, Lab mix ‘Blue’, and latest addition is a rescue; Beagle mix, ‘Betty’.
Greg’s legacy will live on the hearts of his family and friends, all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his big heart and sense of humor, but also his courage and strength which has allowed him to persevere through life’s most difficult challenges and help others to do the same. He was so loved!
