Gregory “Greg” Foster Miles, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 8, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. Greg was born in Hammond, Indiana to Harold and Jane Miles on July 5, 1948. He went to school at Wayland Academy in Wisconsin and would go on to graduate from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He married Kathy Martin Thomas on December 30, 1989, in Beech Grove, Indiana. He worked as a Supervisor of Trips and Activities for MSD Warren Township for the last eighteen years. Prior to that, Greg and Kathy were the owners and operators of Best Coffee For Miles in Indianapolis.
Greg was an avid supporter of both Whitney and Nathanael’s hobbies as they grew up, spending weekends at swim meets and baseball games, coaching little league, and camping in Payne Town. He was a coffee connoisseur, grill master, home brewer, dad joke teller, and loving father and Papa. He always loved the water and looked forward to beach vacations with Kathy. In his free time, he enjoyed sailing, riding his motorcycle, and cycling. He had many accomplishments such as multiple Saddle-Sore rides equaling 1,000 miles in 24 hours and participating in the RAIN Ride at the age of 71.
Greg loved being a grandpa as he embraced hours of rough housing, swimming, and spending time with his grandsons Everett and Arlo. He no doubt was a role model to all, as he exuded how to be a humble, kind, selfless person with an incredibly strong moral compass.
Greg is preceded in death by Harold and Jane Miles, Karin Miles (sister), and Eric Miles (brother).
Greg is survived by Kathy and his two children Whitney (Matthew) Miller and Nathanael (Suzie) Miles and his two grandsons Everett, 5, and Arlo, 18 months.
Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Little and Sons Beech Grove with the memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Greg’s name to the Kidney Cancer Association at KidneyCancer.org or plant a tree in Greg’s memory in a U.S. National Forest at ALivingTribute.org.
The family of Greg wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Reddy, Oncologist and Community Hospice.
