John D. Hensley II

John D. Hensley II, passed away at his home in Beech Grove on February 15, 2012 with his family by his side. He was 65 years old. John was a lifelong resident of Beech Grove, born to the late John D. and Helen(Rogers)Hensley. John married DeAnn Hunter in 1969 in Phoenix, AZ.He was a self employed mechanic from 1981-1996. He retired in 1996 due to his declining health. He enjoyed making bird and squirrel feeders giving many away as gifts to friends and family. He was also known in the neighborhood for his gardening, especially the tomatoes that he grew. John is a US Air Force veteran transporting C-130’s to Vietnam. He learned his mechanic skills working on the C-130 at Davis-Monthan AFB in Arizona.John is survived by his loving wife DeAnn, daughter Rachel(Paul Ricky)Graves, seven grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, five sisters; Jean Ann Strickler, Janice Oliver, Sharon Boltz, Enid Green and Stephanie Hufford.He was preceded in death by his son John D. Hensley III.Friends may call on Monday, February 20, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. in Little and Sons Funeral Home Beech Grove Chapel.
