Laura Lynn Dorsett, age 54, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday February 10, 2019. Laura was born October 20, 1964 in Beech Grove, Indiana to Margaret (Riat) Barger and John Barger. She was a member of AFGE, a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and worked at Johnson Memorial and most recently DFAS. Laura fought to overcome many challenges in her life but was unable to overcome her battle with cancer. She received her bachelor's from DeVry University 3 years ago to better her and her son Adam's life. She fought for his, her nephew, and other's with autism's education as an Autism Advocate ensuring that they received the education they deserved. She relearned algebra to help Adam and fought diligently to help him get his license. She was also fond of red dragons and recently hiking with her long time significant other, Pete. As a loving and devoted mother, Adam always remained her #1 priority.
Laura is survived by her son, Adam Dorsett; mother and father, Margaret (Riat) Barger John Barger Sr.; significant other, Pete Martin; brother, John Barger Jr. (Rosie); sisters, Cecelia Poynter (Timothy), Christina Allen (Joseph), and Elizabeth Feldhake (Nick); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Laura was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Barger.
Visitation for Laura will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107. Her Funeral Service will occur Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Her urn will be laid to rest at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
