Lila Glee Newman

Lila Glee Newman, age 87, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 12, 2022. Born to Gladys Faye (Davis) Malott and Lytle Perrington Malott on November 11, 1934 in Indianapolis, Lila weighed in at 11 pounds and was the 11th grandchild to the Davis Family. She was born and raised in the Garfield Park area and attended IPS #34 and Emmerich Manual High School. In her younger years Lila enjoyed motorcycle rides with her husband, bowling, boating, dancing, and game nights with friends. Later in life she liked to express herself though her writings of poetry. Her award winning poetry was published through the World of Poetry. She was also a vocalist with the Heart of Indiana Chorus and a member of the Red Hat Society. Lila’s greatest joy was her family. She loved visiting with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren which usually included eating ice cream, playing games, coloring, singing and sharing a laugh or two. She was a member of Greenwood Christian Church. Lila is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Newman Sr., her son, Randell A. Newman (Cindy) and son-in-law Kevin F. Reading. She is survived by her children, Ralph (Andy) A. Newman, Jr. (Pam), John A. Newman, III (Christa), Tom A. Newman and Laura A. Reading. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Visitation for Lila will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107 She will be laid to rest in Concordia Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana at a later date.
